Crocheters and knitters, this class is for you if you've ever wanted to combine knit & crochet in a garment!

Once you know how to crochet the classic granny square and you’re familiar with the basic 1x1 / 2x2 knitted ribbed stitch, grab your favourite granny square cardigan pattern, hooks, needles and yarn and join us. A couple of pattern suggestions are:

The class takes place over six sessions, but please note due to Knit in Public Day occurring on June 14, a session will not be held, but you are welcome to join us for our all-day knit & crochet drop-in. On the first day, we’ll cover different ways / sequence for working a granny square and overall construction set up of the pattern you’ve chosen to make. In the next four sessions, we’ll crochet alongside one another, as we accumulate enough squares for our garments. We’ll also go over colour combinations, different strategies for production making, weaving in ends and other handy tips when making a garment. In the final session, we’ll look at different ways to seam our crochet pieces together and how to set up our work for the knitted cuffs, button bands and hem.

Skill Level: familiar with the basics in knitting (k, p, CO, BO), and basics in crochet (ch, sc, dc, magic ring, sl st, changing colours). 

Materials Required:

FIRST SESSION: practice yarn in the same gauge as the yarn in the pattern you’ve chosen to make. Hooks as listed in the pattern.

NEXT FOUR SESSIONS: copy of the pattern, all yarn, hooks and required notions.

FINAL SESSION: knitting needles, yarn and required notions.

Homework: bring MATERIALS REQUIRED and a notebook and pen (optional) if you want to take additional notes.
